It’s Divock Origi day in the land of transfer rumours, with new links to clubs in Germany and Spain making their way into the world for a player who has earned cult hero status for his past Liverpool achievements but does not appear to have a future with the club.
First, there’s Football Insider claiming inside knowledge when it comes to the striker and potential Borussia Dortmund interest, with the eyebrow-raising suggestion Origi is one of the names on the German club’s list as a summer target and a £12M fee mooted.
No mention of Erling Haaland is made, though it’s difficult to imagine Origi, for as good as he’s looked at times in the past, would be targeted as a potential replacement or first choice. Still, whatever happens with Haaland, Dortmund may need more striking depth.
Meanwhile in Spain, Real Sociedad are said to be more than putting Origi on a list. They’re said to have made contact with Liverpool as they look to replace Alexander Isak, with the rising young star expected to leave the club for pastures more lucrative in the summer.
Perhaps tellingly, El Gol Digital claim Origi would cost €15M, or just about the same fee Football Insider think he’d cost Dortmund switching Pounds to Euros. Whether either link leads to anything, then, the rumour mongers at least appear to have settled on a fee.
