Transfer Rumour Mongering: Liverpool Interested in Sheffield Midfielder

The Reds are said to be looking for someone to replace Georginio Wijnaldum.

The football world continues desperately trying to guess who Liverpool will bring into the team, should midfielder Gini Wijnaldum leave Anfield this summer. Wijnaldum plays a huge role in Klopp’s midfield, and finding someone to fill his boots will be a big job — one the transfer committee is no doubt already working on.

The newest name being thrown at the wall is Sheffield United player Sander Berge. Berge joined Sheffield in January 2020, but may be looking for an offramp as the team seems destined for the drop. The 23-year-old Norwegian will be a hot commodity this summer, as the remaining Premier League teams try to get in on the relegation fire sale.

Berge has been out of the team with injury since December, which honestly would make him feel right at home with our current team.

No offer price has been suggested yet, but Sheffield put out £22million for the player a year ago and will want to pull in a profit when the time comes.

The Gini speculation is going to continue indefinitely until the situation is resolved one way or the other, so we should all buckle up and prepare for a long spring and summer full of rumours, gossip and tenuous links to every midfielder in England and Germany.
