It may be Saturday, but the transfer gossip doesn’t take the weekends off. According to Italian sources, Liverpool are chasing Rodrigo De Paul, from the Serie A side Udinese Calcio. As Gini Wijnaldum looks to be headed out the Shankly Gates, all eyes have turned to who could possibly replace the Dutchman in Klopp’s midfield.
Enter De Paul, who TuttoUdinese claim has captured the interest of the Reds. According to their reporting, Liverpool are planning a €30m bid for the Argentinian playmaker, though Udinese are apparently holding out for more.
De Paul, the Udinese club captain, signed a new five-year deal with the club in 2019, which means that he’s in contract until 2024. That gives Udinese plenty of negotiating power, should De Paul really be trying to leave.
In addition to the Reds, TuttoUdinese warned that Inter Milan are also in the chase. So if De Paul is looking to remain in Italy, that might be an attractive option.
This season, De Paul has scored five goals and notched 2 assists in 22 appearances for Udinese so far this season.
What do you think? Would De Paul be a good addition to the team?
