Another day, another center-back rumor. Just as Liverpool’s lengthy transfer saga with Dayot Upamecano comes to an end, another young defender is said to be on Michael Edwards’ radar - Serie A side Torino’s 23-year old center-back, Gleison Bremer.
The Brazilian defender joined Torino in 2018 from Atlético Mineiro, and has made about 50 appearances for the Italian side since then.
The Daily Mirror now reports that he is potentially a summer target for Liverpool, with Edwards’ scouting team looking to further reinforce the backline after this season’s nightmarish scenes in defense.
According to the Mirror, Bremer plays on the left of the two central defenders and could plausibly partner with Virgil Van Dijk once he returns from his lengthy ACL injury.
He is currently valued at less than £10million, which would make him attractive for Edwards and team from a financial viewpoint.
Interestingly, Bremer has featured in a pre-season friendly against Liverpool in 2018, playing as a part of Torino’s back three in a game that ended in a 3-1 victory for the Reds.
Bremer has made 18 starts for Torino this season and is expected to be on the radar of a number of European clubs this summer.
