Liverpool have made their second signing of deadline day and their second centre half signing of deadline day, bringing in Ozan Kabak from Schalke on loan with an option to buy the 20-year-old Turkish international in the summer for £18M.
When Kabak will be ready to make his debut in Red remains to be seen, but when he does he will wear the number 19 for his new club. He wore number four at Schalke and for the national team—unlikely to be vacant any time soon given it’s Virgil van Dijk’s.
Interestingly, Kabak has previously identified Van Dijk as one of the players he looks up to and tried to model his game after, and if he can make a similar impact for his new club as Van Dijk did on joining he will have a bright future at Anfield.
With Kabak’s signing now complete, attention turns to rumours of a potential departure for Takumi Mianmino, a move that could be made in part due to the Reds needing to make room to register Kabak to their Champions League squad.
