Rumour Mongering: Yasser Larouci Tipped for Leeds Move

Leeds United was rumoured to be interested in Liverpool FC’s young left-back Yasser Larouci over the summer, but a move failed to materialise... for reasons. Now, a report from Football Insider says that the club is willing to let young Yasser move in January, as his contract will run out in the summer, and would rather let him go on a cut-price move than let him go for nothing. Reportedly, the youngster had been offered a new deal but rejected those terms, paving the way for his eventual (or maybe earlier) exit.

This would seem to work out for everyone involved. Larouci joined Liverpool from French club Le Havre in 2017. He was initially a winger, before switching to left-back. He had glimpses of promise in the 2019 preseason and made his first-team debut in the FA Cup third-round victory over Everton in January of last year. In total, he has two senior appearances in total.

However, with both Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas manning both starter and deputy spots at the left-back position, the path to the first-team appears to be blocked for him. He has seemed to have fallen out of favour over the past year, and has only featured for the Under-23s twice this term. In addition to Leeds, championship clubs Brentford and Norwich City are also rumoured to be interested.
