His signing hasn’t even been officially announced yet but we already know plenty of details when it comes to the transfer of Thiago Alcantara to Liverpool, as the 29-year-old Spanish midfield star moves to England from Bayern Munich.
It has been confirmed by the likes of Paul Joyce and Melissa Reddy that it’s a £20M base deal with a further £5M in add-ons, that the fee will be paid over four years—so only about £5M is heading to Bayern right now—and that a four-year deal with the player has been agreed.
We also know Thiago will wear the number six at Anfield, in case anyone wants to get a jump on his official unveiling, which is expected before the weekend with the player on his way to Merseyside today.
Thiago’s arrival will strengthen what was already a very strong area on the pitch for a Liverpool side that has won the Champions League, Super Cup, Club World Cup, and Premier League over the past two years.
With time still left in the transfer window, it may also not be the last of the club’s transfer business, with signings at wide forward and to provide defensive depth still possible.
