Rumour Mongering: Liverpool Battle Wolves for Scottish Starlet

We have our doubts, but 18-year-old CB Jamie Hamilton could be the kind of signing for the future the club does make.

Liverpool aren’t expected to spend big this summer, with any major transfer dealings put on hold for the time being at least due to the financial uncertainty caused by coronavirus. That doesn’t meant the club won’t do any business, though.

It just means fans hoping for a few transfers should be looking at promising youngsters or perhaps an older bargain to round out the squad, and in the former category the rumour mongers today have brought us a new player to add to the mix.

That player is 18-year-old Scottish central defender Jamie Hamilton, who plays for Hamilton Academy in the Scottish Premiership. For whatever it’s worth, we’re fairly certain the Hamilton playing for Hamilton thing is just a coincidence.

In any case, Team Talk claim an exclusive—and announce the “battle” if you’re wondering where that came from—regarding the supposed interest of both Wolves and the Reds, as well as possibly a host of others from Everton to Burnley.

There’s no suggestion of what sort of fee Hamilton would want for Hamilton, but with the club currently in the relegation places and the 18-year-old having made 16 appearances this season, if they need to sell he does look their likeliest asset.

And when it comes down to it, we suspect that either that—his club looking to drum up business—or the player’s agent looking to orchestrate a move away from the bottom-half Scottish side is the source of this particular transfer rumour.

Which doesn’t mean Liverpool and Wolves might not be interested—and for the right price he’d certainly make a likelier signing than the much more expensive and also probably being linked by his club or agent Kalidou Koulibaly.
