Rumour Mongering: Liverpool Target Gladbach Midfield Star

Another day, another Bundesliga transfer rumour leaked into the collective football consciousness. This one is in regards to Borussia Mönchengladbach central midfielder Denis Zakaria.

The Bundesliga has returned, but if you’re hoping to catch a glimpse of the player that Liverpool are said to have their eyes on, you’ll unfortunately be disappointed. Zakaria is recovering from knee surgery and is set to return sometime next month.

The 23-year-old Swiss international has purportedly been on Liverpool’s radar for years — aren’t they always? — and once the Great Timo Werner Transfer Saga of 2020 concludes, he could be the next man on their list.

Zakaria has previously been linked with Liverpool rivals Manchester United, but that interest seems to have dissipated since the winter.

He is under contract with Gladbach until 2022, and it’s unclear whether they are willing to sell the player and how much money they’ll be asking for if they are.
