Liverpool are said to be courting Sandro Tonali, the 19-year-old Brescia midfielder and Italian Adam Driver lookalike. Tonali, who managed to bag five assists in the 23 games he played in the truncated Italian season, likely won’t be allowed to leave Brescia for less than £45 million.
Klopp is said to be an admirer of Tonali, according to the Italian gossip sites who are never, ever wrong. It’s also claimed that him potentially coming on the market has piqued interest in several suitors across Europe, including Juventus and PSG.
The teenager is playing it cool, claiming he’s happy at Brescia and wants to focus on finishing off the season.
“I don’t think about it, I don’t care, not right now. I’m interested in ending the season in the best possible way, because I still feel I have a lot to give to Brescia, who believed in me,” Tonali said when asked about his future plans.
The Reds also seem to be on the look out for strong midfielders, and that’s the one area of their play that could be considered lacking. It’s no stretch to conclude that we may see the transfer committee bring in some new recruits in that area during the summer transfer window.
Whether the Reds are willing to be top shelf price for the services of a 19-year-old — in this economy (literally!) — is the more debatable question.
