Rumour Mongering: Liverpool Move Closer to Signing Norwich Ace

The Reds are apparently very interested in Norwich’s Todd Cantwell.

We’re a few months away from the beginning of transfer season, and from the worst teams in the Premier League getting relegated, so it makes sense that the rumours around Norwich City ace, Todd Cantwell, have been gaining some steam. Last week, David Ornstein of The Athletic claimed that Liverpool were eyeing Cantwell with some interest, especially as a replacement for Adam Lallana and Xherdan Shaqiri who might be on their way out this summer.

The 22-year-old player has six goals under his belt in 22 League games this season, and would be a useful wide midfielder who’d grow well in Klopp’s system. Norwich City value the midfielder at about £30m which apparently has not deterred Liverpool at all.

“One thing that he gives you is his ball carrying,” former Hull City player, Alex Bruce, said when asked about what Cantwell could bring to Anfield.

“He is a little bit like Jack Grealish – that type of player. He plays with flair like a James Maddison.

“Of course, he has some way to go before he is at their levels but it is his first season in the Premier League and he has done OK.

“He has caught people’s eye and everybody is talking about him. Cantwell is young, so he is definitely a prospect.”

We’ll have to wait to see if we hear confirmation from sources closer to Liverpool, but as of now, this would be an interesting summer signing to add to Liverpool’s midfield depth.
