Jadon Sancho is having a stellar season for Borussia Dortmund. The 19 year old attacking player has scored 14 goals and assisted 14 others in the Bundesliga. That type of output from a young player who can play on either side as a wide forward, or as an attacking midfielder, is going to fetch a pretty penny for the former Manchester City youth player and England youth international.
With a bevy of potential suitors, it looks like a situation where the club will get a price they want, and the player and club will have options with who they do business with. In England, both Liverpool and Manchester United have been rumored to be interested in the player.
Jan Aage Fjortoft of Viasport was on hand to interview the player after his match on Saturday. For Sancho’s part, he didn’t do anything to fuel speculation.
“I don’t really look at all them things,” said Sancho when asked about where he might end up. “I just concentrate on my team and take it game by game. That’s the most important thing for me now.”
That answer didn’t deter Jan Aage Fjortoft from talking to OTHER journalists on what they thought would happen.
”Manchester United is in for him as well and there are four or five big candidates as well but he thought that because of the friendship between Klopp and this club they would prefer him to go to Liverpool,” Fjortoft said of his unnamed source, who apparently is from “one of the biggest papers in Germany”.
”They said imagine if they had for or five candidates who all pay the same, they will let him go where they have the friends.”
Of course, the other journalist Fjortoft spoke to said Sancho will definitely be going to Manchester United.
So, to recap. Young Englishman Jadon Sancho is really good, and lots of teams are interested in him. He’s going to cost a lot of money, and will be on high wages (he’s purportedly on £230,000 per week right now). He’s definitely going to Manchester United, but also is probably going to Liverpool. Got it?
