RB Salzburg sporting director Cristoph Freund weighed in on the trajectory of his former player, Erling Haaland. The young Norwegian player recently made a transfer to Bundesliga powerhouse and former Klopp home Borussia Dortmund this past January.
He’s lit up the German league, scoring over 20 goals for Dortmund in less than a calendar year. Freund believes he’s meant to be one of the European elite, and when Liverpool was posited as a possible future home, he didn’t hesitate.
“He will land there. He can play for any club in the world,” he said. “With his mentality, his will and self confidence, he will be able to make a mark on European football in the next ten years.”
Since we here at TLO Towers dropped our well known grudge against Red Bull in the wake of them selling us Naby Keita, we’ve had a mutually beneficial relationship with the energy drink company.
note: start a boycott Red Bull/only drink Monster campaign for LFC fans until Leipzig sell us Keïta. bonus: turn profit off said campaign.— Liverpool Offside (@LFCOffside) July 4, 2017
I’ve been trying to finesse a “Red Bull gives us wing(er)s” pun seamlessly into this piece, but I couldn’t get it quite right, so I’m just laying it out there instead.
If Freund wants to help us out again, then most would welcome it.
At only 20-years-old, Haaland is very impressive. If he continues to perform this well, then he’ll be on a path to great things. It’s impossible to know if that path will take him to Anfield, but that would certainly be one to watch.
