Sandro Tonali turns 20 in May and, if he leaves Bresica in the coming summer as is widely expected, he will cost upwards of £40M, with the technically capable defensive midfielder currently rated as Italy’s top young talent.
The heavy favourite to sign him is, of course, Juventus. But that hasn’t stopped Liverpool and others being linked as potential alternatives—both over the past year and again today, with word the Reds remain interested.
That’s according to both Corriere dello Sport and Twitter Rumour Monger Tancredi Palmeri, who claim Liverpool have lodged their interest in the player with Bresica and that if he is to be sold they would like to sign him.
In addition to favourites Juventus and world champions Liverpool, the likes of big spenders Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, and rich but adrift Manchester United have all also seen links with Tonali reaffirmed this week.
That he’s a player any top team—or any team that aspires to be a top team—would have on their radar is hardly news. The only question is whether there’s any realistic chance of him moving out of Italy this summer.
If he does decide to leave Serie A, then Liverpool’s current standing and spending power would certainly stand the Reds well in any transfer battle.
