It’s the end of July, which apparently means that we’ve reached the ‘are they drunk’ stage in the transfer rumours.
But that’s for other news. This one, guys? This one seems legit.
It appears that Divock Origi, mostly recently in the news for signing a new long term contract with Liverpool, will be saying good bye to the European champions and headed to Turkey. More specifically, the Champions League and Merseyside derby hero is said to be joining Caykur Rizespor, who finished 11th last year in the Turkish Super Lig.
No disrespect to Caykur Rizespor here, but — you mad, bro?

The report comes from Turkish outlet Milliyet, translated by Sport witness, and they get around the small fact of Origi’s new and improved contract by suggesting that Caykur Rizespor will work to get Origi on loan for all of this coming season.
Considering that Daniel Sturridge has left the team, and it doesn’t look like any other attacking players will be joining this season, the odds of the club loaning out Origi after his best season since he’s arrived is...slim.
But with Liverpool so quiet in this transfer window, it’s fun to watch the wheels come off on these more outrageous and laughable claims.
