Being a star football player must be a very particular kind of power. One post on social media has the ability to spark speculation and excitement around the world for the rest of the day.
Bruno Fernandes, the Sporting Lisbon midfielder long linked with a move to Liverpool Football Club, posted what reads as a good bye to his Portuguese club, along with a picture of him on an airplane. It’s rumoured that he’s Premier League-bound. While he has been linked with Liverpool, other clubs such as Manchester United are also in the running.
The picture of him and his family on a plane could be him off to vacation, but that didn’t stop Liverpool fans from speculating about the trajectory and trying to find a flight plan online.
It seems likely that Fernandes will be finding a new club, and the 24-year-old would make a nice addition to Klopp’s side, but if the deal is done and if the club is Liverpool is anyone’s guess. The Reds have yet to start their summer signings, and fans are eager to see them get the ball rolling.
As of now, though, this furor seems to be a case of excitable Reds fans taking two plus two and making five.
