The Liverpool right back is looking for a new opportunity this summer to reignite his career.

This one is a smorgasbord of rumour clichés. It has an agent, it’s linked to another potential player transfer, it has an inner circle of friends, you’re going to love it. The tale begins with the news that Nathaniel Clyne may be engineering a move to Crystal Palace this summer. Clyne was on loan at Bournemouth for the second half of the season. Now, with his injury well and truly behind him, Clyney will be looking for a fresh start away from Liverpool where he can play regularly again.

Apparently, Clyne has been discussing some football matters with his friends and the report out of Football Insider suggests that at least one of those friends leaked news that the England defender has his mind set on a move to London. Palace is where is all began for Clyne, his boyhood club. It’s got a lot of heart, this story.

Now, there’s also the link with Crystal Palace’s soon-to-depart Aaron Wan-Bissaka to spice things up. Manchester United are thought to be ready to pay £55million for Wan-Bissaka this summer and that deal is expected to be sorted out soon. Clyne could slide super smoothly into that newly-opened right back spot.

Liverpool are reportedly asking £12M for Clyne and his agent’s arrival at Liverpool headquarters to discuss business things is said to be imminent. No word on Crystal Palace’s take on all this yet. And I’m not sure I feel great about sending any of our players off to Roy Hodgson, for Roy Hodgson reasons, but I do hope Clyne finds a good team where he can play and get his mojo back.
