I’ve lost track of where we’ve been with the links between Liverpool and Sporting CP’s Bruno Fernandes. But the situation is this: Fernandes appears ready for a move to grander opportunities and he just so happens to be a player of a certain ilk that everyone expects Jürgen Klopp to target this summer.
He’s a clever, hard-working forward and I understand a lot of people would have him in the squad behind Roberto Firmino but the rumours aren’t meant to become reality in this case, if you believe the London Evening Standard.
“Standard Sport understands that the Reds have no plans to sign the 24-year-old, who is reportedly a target for Manchester United,” claimed the report on Fernandes.
Klopp and Michael Edwards probably have their business in the works, with key attacking targets identified and a bunch of emails with Champions League winners gifs already sent. FSG are on record as promising an assured title run next season by making sure Klopp brings in the right player or two during this window.
If the report is true, and it was included in Liverpool writer David Lynch’s column, then we can move on from Fernandes officially, forget about having a Bruno on the team, and recklessly assume the targets Klopp does have in mind are cooler and more incredible.
