There have been loads of rumours about what’s next for Ajax’s Hakim Ziyech. Ajax had a great run through the Champions League, casting aside both Real Madrid and Juventus and eventually losing out dramatically to Tottenham in the semi-finals, and a few of their players will be moving on to stardom as a result. Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong are off for big money and Ziyech is expected to follow them out.
Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool have been linked with the Dutch-born attacking midfielder and Ajax was clearly ready to get some more business going because they’ve gone ahead and advertised a sale price for Ziyech to speed things up a bit. It’s being reported, but admittedly by dubious outlets, that Ajax are willing to let Ziyech go for £30million.
It’s a good price for a productive support player if he were to fit the bill for Jürgen Klopp. Ziyech has previously expressed interest in a move to Arsenal if he were to head to England but without Champions League football the Gunners may not be an ideal destination for a player looking to continue his form on the big stage.
If Ziyech would be willing to play a supporting role for Klopp and push the attacking players for minutes, £30million could be great value for a confident and talented player, hungry to take his next step .
Whether or not Ajax have actually settled on £30million as Ziyech’s magic number, I don’t know. But it’s probably in the ballpark. I’m not exactly sure what role Ziyech would play in Liverpool’s attacking setup but from what I gather he could spell Roberto Firmino in the central-ish forward position when needs be. It’s a real decent price if true, though, and one the Liverpool recruitment team just might be mulling over.
