In the grand tradition of every Bundesliga player or player with a vaguely German-sounding name being linked to Liverpool thanks to their manager, the latest rumour is that the Reds are interested in Max Kruse.

The Werder Bremen star has said he’s leaving his club this summer, and will need a new home. He scored 12 goals and got 14 assists last season, making him an interesting prospect for anyone with a need for a striker. It’s said that Liverpool are keen to sign the 31-year-old player. Kruse will be available on a free this summer, and apparently Liverpool will have to contend with both Bayern Munich and Tottenham for his signature.

It seems highly unlikely that anything will come of this particular rumour, but welcome back to the silly season.

Daniel Sturridge will likely leave in the summer, and that may mean that Klopp tries to bring in another body in order to give himself options. However, if he is going to do that, chances are that it will be an established player like Rhian Brewster who gets an opportunity.
