Rumour Mongering: Former Liverpool Target Sessegnon Refuses to Commit to Fulham

Ryan Sessegnon doesn’t sound thrilled about the prospect of staying at Fulham so it’s time to revive the old links.

After feeling for a time as though it was an inevitability of every transfer window, it’s been a while now since Liverpool and Tottenham were locked in a transfer battle, but if the rumour mongers have their way the two clubs could be on the verge of one.

That’s because Fulham are heading back down to the Championship while talented young wide man Ryan Sessegnon, who in the past has been linked to both, sounds less than fully committed to the cause—which means it’s time to trot out his old suitors.

“I’m still a Fulham player, contracted until 2020,” was Sessegnon’s response when asked about his future following Fulham’s game against Cardiff on the weekend. “I’m still a Fulham player and in terms of that, that’s all I can say at the moment.”

It could, perhaps, just be disappointment at how Fulham’s one-and-done season back in top flight has gone. Or it could be disappointment at how Sessegnon’s own year has unfolded, with the 18-year-old struggling to impress for the overmatched side.

However, for those inclined to read the tea leaves of tone and body language it certainly sounds as though a move could be in Sessegnon’s immediate future. The Mirror and others at least seem to think so. And that Spurs and Liverpool are likely destinations.

It’s all rather speculative, of course. Not at all founded on solid leads or inside sources. But such is the transfer window, and no matter if Liverpool or Spurs are still interested, it would hardly be a surprise if Sessegnon did end up at a new club this summer.
