It’s hard to believe that Alberto Moreno will wrap up his 5 years at Liverpool this summer. The young, pacy, talented prospect abstained from playing in the UEFA Supercup with his boyhood club Sevilla in order to make the move to Merseyside, and then announced himself in style with a marauding run to make it 3-0 against Spurs in one of his first outings.
That, was a long time ago. Despite making nearly 150 appearances for Liverpool, Moreno never really fulfilled his promise during his years as a Red, and is now second—possibly third—fiddle behind Andy Robertson (and/or James Milner).
While most of his teammates are either on international duty, injured, or “injured,” Albi decided to take his family to Rome and spend some quality time with Lucas Leiva. And, fair play, if I could go to Rome and hang with Papa Lucas I certainly would.
However, many media types are speculating that this trip could have ulterior motives, namely joining Lucas as a teammate at Rome club Lazio. This doesn’t seem all that far fetched. And with less than six months left on his contract, Albi would be able to sign a pre-contract with any non-English outfit he chooses.
Lucas has certainly thrived since moving away from the Premier League, so maybe Serie A would suit Moreno as well. If nothing else it appears game nights and the Leivas is back on.
