Adam Lallana’s Liverpool career looked set to flourish under Jürgen Klopp, with the now 31-year-old attacking midfielder’s slick footwork and willingness to run and press instantly endearing him to the German manager when he took over the club.
Injuries, though, soon derailed Lallana’s new Liverpool dawn and have seen the Englishman relegated to bit-part player, a frustrating figure who can still show flashes of the quality that made him a Klopp favourite but too often looks a step off the pace.
Now, in a surprise twist, he’s being linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, with the French big spenders rumoured to be losing Edinson Cavani to MLS’ Los Angeles Galaxy, who have targeted the Uruguayan as Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s replacement.
And with Cavani maybe probably possibly heading to Hollywood, the answer for PSG is Lallana. Naturally. Since he’s an oft-injured midfielder and Cavani a seemingly indestructible striker. Still, that’s the story that’s out there today care of the Mirror.
It’s a silly enough rumour, at least on its surface, that we might not even touch it most weeks. But it isn’t most weeks, it’s the international break. So there you have it. Adam Lallana is all set to replace Edison Cavani at PSG. Or not. Probably not.
