Your Transfer Rumour is Bullshit: Alexander-Arnold to Leave Liverpool in the Summer

Sure, Jan.

Former Brazil international and footballing legend, Cafu, really wants Liverpool fans to stop celebrating prematurely, and he’s somehow managed to find the best way to do so: an interview with The S*n on how Trent Alexander-Arnold, current Liverpool defender and future team captain, will be tempted away from Anfield by “European giants”.

“At the end of the season we could see a big trade with him, as he is not only a great defender but he can also help and move forward and sideways with and without the ball,” Cafu said. “For that reason he has been great in scoring goals and is what I would call a ‘quarterback scorer’.

“To any young player, the key word is always commitment. Young players need to have a strong commitment to the position they take on. This is my No 1 piece of advice. It’s what I teach to others.”

Cafu did not clarify how exactly this ties to Alexander-Arnold leaving Anfield for other clubs in Europe, but we can only assume that his understanding of the situation is that Alexander-Arnold will want to test his mantle in other leagues and with other players. This, of course, ignores the fact that the Liverpool Klopp is building is one that’s likely to last and Trent Alexander-Arnold seems to have a lasting place in it—both as a defender and as a future leader of the team.

This is hardly a rumour, at the end of the day, more a terrible tabloid getting some quotes from a legendary former player and twisting them into a click-baity headline. Carry on with your revelry, Reds fans. There’s absolutely nothing to see here.
