Rumour Mongering: Liverpool Make Callum Hudson-Odoi Approach

According to the German press, Bayern might have some competition for Chelsea’s budding superstar.

Tottenham Hotspur v Chelsea - Carabao Cup: Semi-Final First Leg

Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi is near the top of any list of England’s top teenage football talents. And for at least the past month, he’s appeared destined for Bayern Munich, with the German club looking to capitailse on his Chelsea disillusionment.

Now, though, it looks as if they could have some serious competition. At least according to Bild, who claim Liverpool have met with Hudson-Odoi and his representatives this month and that this represents the biggest threat to Bayern signing him in January.

Of course, if one were Hudson-Odoi’s agent and looking to either get a move to Bayern or a new, big money contract—and promises of playing time—out of Chelsea it would make sense to name-drop a club that’s top of the league and just turned a record profit.

On the other hand, Hudson-Odoi is one England’s top talents, a player fully capable of following in Jadon Sancho’s footsteps and making his former club look silly for not giving him a chance. And Liverpool are top of the league and just turned a record profit.

It would make complete sense, then, for Hudson-Odoi’s agent to drop Liverpool’s name as a negotiation tactic. It would also make sense for Liverpool to actually want to sign the young winger—it would make sense for any club in their position to want to sign him.

Either way, with Bayern hoping to sign the player this month and Chelsea doing everything they can now to convince the 18-year-old to stay at Stamford Bridge, it probably shouldn’t take too long to find out where Hudson-Odoi’s future actually lies.
