Liverpool have been linked, on and off, with 23 year old Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot since this summer. The French international will be out of contract with PSG this summer, and several clubs are said to be keen on capturing his signature.
In addition to Liverpool, Barcelona and Arsenal are said to be monitoring the situation. Now, according to French publication L’Équipe, we can add Chelsea to that growing list.
Since Rabiot will be out of contract this summer, he is legally allowed to begin negotiations with clubs outside of France ahead a potential free transfer. Equally, a club could conceivably splash the cash to land the player for the second half of the season. Considering UEFA has done away with the rule “cup tying” players, any Champions League squad could conceivably strengthen for the knock out rounds.
With Chelsea already moving to sign American attacking midfielder Christian Pulisic this transfer window, it could be a worrying sign if they sign yet another young talent.
However, like with Pulisic, it is unclear whether Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards are keen on bringing Rabiot to Liverpool. If they are, they will no doubt be working hard behind the scenes. And at this juncture Liverpool is the more attractive destination than Chelsea, which just feels good to write.
