Notorious starlet developer Ajax have done it again, producing another golden generation of promising young footballers that look set to take the next step in their careers and take on the world. Patrick Kluivert’s son Justin has already joined Roma in an upsetting €17m deal, Matthijs de Ligt is being linked with every top Premier League club not based on Merseyside, and David Neres is tragically not being linked with anyone at all.
An Ajax youngster that is in Liverpool’s crosshairs however is Ki-Jana Hoever. According to James Pearce at the Echo, the Reds are looking to wrap up a deal for the 16-year old promptly, and if reports from Goal are to be trusted, Hoever has already snubbed Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United in order to join Jürgen Klopp at Anfield.
The AZ youth product is described as an offensive fullback who has also spent time at centre-back, made 13 appearances for the Dutch side’s Under-17 team last season, and is capped for the Netherlands at Under-15 and Under-16 level. Born in 2002, Hoever won’t be competing for minutes in Liverpool’s senior team for at least a couple of years, but establishing a future pipeline from De Toekomst to Melwood would be a welcome development.
