There was a moment, shortly after the second massive error leading to a goal in the Champions League final, when I went all Obi-Wan and thought of Loris Karius, “YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE!”
But now, it seems, he has flipped to the Dark Side, and Klopp will now have to unceremoniously remove three of his limbs (don’t worry, he wasn’t using them anyway), and leave him for dead on the banks of a river of molten lava. Or, you know, probably bring in another keeper, and possibly send Karius elsewhere?
Where was I? Oh right. Transfer rumors. Yes, well, there’s a report out of Italy (always a promising start), courtesy of the publication Tutto Mercado, that states Liverpool are in for Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha, to the tune of £25 million.
The 23-year-old Albanian international played all 38 league matches for Lazio, as well as 10 Europa League matches, helping the Roman side finish fifth and advance to the Europa League quarterfinals.
This report probably isn’t anything more than wild speculation, linking every and any goalkeeper to Liverpool until the start of the season or a replacement is signed.
However, this would likely cost less than half what it would to sign Roma’s Alisson. Considering the already signed (!) Naby Keita and Fabinho, as well as the links to £60 million-rated Nabil Fekir, we might already be bumping into the upper limit of ability to shell out cash.
