Although news of a Nabil Fekir-shaped attacking midfielder has been occupying most of our collective imaginations, time, and YouTube searches, the French international isn’t the only attacking player to be linked with Liverpool.
For a third summer on the trot, it appears as if Christian Pulisic remains on the Liverpool radar (or if not on Liverpool’s per se, at least the media’s). Now 19-years-old, the US international has played his way into a regular starting role for Borussia Dortmund.
If anything is afoot (which seems unlikely, given the cost, the more persistent and reliable links with Fekir, and other needs in the squad), Pulisic isn’t saying.
“I am still finishing my season strong with Dortmund, I have been happy here all season and enjoyed the game which is most important,” Pulisic said to ESPN prior to a stateside post-season friendly with Los Angeles FC.
“I’m just looking forward to having a good break this summer.”
And Pulisic will enjoy a good break this summer, considering failure by the US Men’s National Team to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
“It’s hard to say what went wrong - a lot of things,” Pulisic said when asked about the US shitting the bed in what has been (and should be) an easy qualifying process for them.
“I try not to [think about it] anymore. I want to be in a World Cup one day, it is my biggest dream.”
That’s it mate, just don’t think about bad things. You really are American. Though, why getting a Klopp hug after winning a Champions League isn’t your biggest dream is simply beyond me.
Anyway, not much to report here other than the old adage, “once a Liverpool target, always a Liverpool target.” Carry on.
