Rumor Mongering: A Fekir Transfer Hint By Lyon Boss?

France’s Ligue 1 wraps up action today. Could we see Nabil Fekir in Liverpool red shortly thereafter?

Liverpool seem to have been dealt a transfer blow this week, as credible reports emerged that Manchester City have become clear favorites to land Napoli midfielder Jorginho.

Regardless, Liverpool, no doubt, are continuing their summer recruitment drive, and the fantastically named Lyon boss, Bruno Genesio, may have hinted that a transfer for rumored target Nabil Fekir is likely sooner rather than later.

Lyon play their last match of the Ligue 1 campaign today, currently leading 4th-placed Marseille by one point, needing a win to ensure Champions League football next season.

“We have to put aside everything related to emotion,” Genesio said.

“For some, this may be the last game. It must give [those players] even more strength because you have to say: ‘[I] leave by helping this team qualify for the Champions League.’

“There is also the World Cup. The very great players are able to ignore all this and I think Nabil will play a big match on Saturday.”

Of course, these comments must be taken with a heavy grain of salt. It is the merest hint of a possible transfer. Though in an age where a like on Instagram is transfer-news-worthy, this seems like a Big Deal™.

And while Liverpool have been heavily linked with Fekir in recent months, there are undoubtedly other suitors who are vying for his signature. And the transfer for the exciting midfielder will not come cheap, with some reports indicating it will cost over £60 million.

So, Nabil, you concentrate on the match today, and then immediately get on the business of joining the most boss team in world football, yeah? Cheers.
