We’re not even a full week into the international break and the rumor mill is already spinning wildly out of control.
Today, it is Le Parisien are reporting that Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp has been “shortlisted” by Paris Saint-Germain as a possible replacement for Unai Emery, who is expected to depart this summer. The shortlist also includes Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, and three-time Champions League winner Carlo Ancelotti.
This, of course, is not bad company to keep for Klopp. However, there is absolutely nothing to suggest that Klopp would be interested in leaving Liverpool for anywhere, and particularly not for a big money club like PSG.
It seems likely that PSG have shortlisted Klopp. After all, his sides play an exciting style, and his sides generally perform well in European competitions. And he’s just all around boss, and who wouldn’t want him? But they might as well add Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy to their shortlist, because Kloppo is just about as realistic of a target.
Maybe once Klopp takes Liverpool back to their rightful perch atop both English and European football, he’ll decide to move on. Until then, we can laugh at these rumors, and tell the PSGs of the world to jog on.
