Over the past several months, AS Roma’s Brazilian shot-stopper Alisson has been strongly linked to some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Liverpool.
Depending on the day, or even the time of day, the Alisson rumors have indicated anything from him definitely becoming a Liverpool player, to definitely not, and everything in between. Today, it seems he’s at least entertaining the idea of moving elsewhere, specifically Real Madrid.
“Those links massage the ego, it cannot be denied,” Alisson told Portuguese outlet Globoesporte. “People get satisfaction from having recognition. I feel very happy to have that recognition.
“It means that I am doing my job well, that they are watching me. Even more so when one hears about Real Madrid.”
So, he’s going to Madrid then. Cool.
Obviously the behind-the-scenes wheeling and dealing of the transfer market is complex, but this seems to be an indication that Alisson at the very least has had his head turned. And as we know from our own very recent history with Brazilians and the Spanish Giants, this generally only ends one way.
It’s fine. We have Loris Karius who has been boss for at least a month so we really don’t need a new keeper. Especially not Alisson. Nope.
