The ever-reliable Spanish tabloids are claiming that Real Madrid have their sights set on Liverpool’s star player, Mohamed Salah, for a summer move. Reports are that the Spanish giants are looking to replace Gareth Bale for next season, and Salah, who has blown the roof off of Anfield this season, is number one on their list of players to bring in.
Liverpool, however, are said to have put an understandably astronomical price tag on their new Kop darling. They’ve apparently placed a €180m price on him, which is more than they let Philippe Coutinho go for earlier this year.
Frankly the idea that Liverpool have even put a number on Salah is pretty unbelievable. The Egyptian is less than a year into a five-year contract. He’s having the best season of his career working under Klopp and alongside his partners Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mané.
While Real Madrid is a big draw for any player, right now the symbiotic relationship between the player and club seems to be working out well for everyone. It’s also unlikely that Liverpool would sell their best players in two successive transfer windows. The idea that they’d do so and attempt to negotiate a replacement during a World Cup year is also extremely unlikely.
But it’s good for this writer to crack her knuckles and start getting used to writing Salah transfer rumours, since I’m sure there’s going to be plenty more where they came from in the (hopefully many) years to come.
