Having a good week so far? Well, the transfer rumor mongers are back, and looking to inflict maximum pain on Liverpool supporters.
According to French publication L’Equipe, the former Liverpool transfer target that nearly was, Nabil Fekir, has yet to open contract extension talks with Lyon, and is likely eyeing a move away from Ligue 1 in the summer.
And where, exactly, is the exciting French international being linked to? The newspaper speculates Chelsea and Bayern Munich as clubs who are interested in his signature.
“What happened with Liverpool is straight out of my head, I turned the page,” Fekir told L’Equipe. “We must not stop at this, we must move forward. There are things that must be accepted.
“My future? We have not discussed an extension yet, we will see what happens.”
Fekir’s current contract with Lyon ends in the summer of 2020, meaning he will have just one year remaining when this season wraps up. It puts Lyon in a difficult spot to negotiate, which is probably why they were so eager to sell him this summer (until Liverpool’s doctor’s discovered his knee had been rebuilt with papier-mâché).
It’s probably for the best. It’s not like our midfield looks one attacking, creative player light.
