As rumors of Christian Pulisic’s departure from Dortmund intensify, it appears as if the young American is Premier League bound next year. The only question is where? He’s been linked to Liverpool in seasons past (including a failed bid two seasons ago), and Chelsea this time around. Now, not ones to let a shiny object go unnoticed, Manchester United have apparently also entered the fray.
Pulisic will have one year remaining on his contract when summer rolls around, meaning Dortmund will have far less negotiating power. As such, the club reportedly put a £70 million price tag on him for the upcoming window.
This is not the first time United have been linked with Pulisic, with some pundits even speculating that this has been his preferred destination all along. I would normally make a “have fun in the Europa League” joke here, but that seems far too likely a destination for us in the near future.
If Pulisic in fact has dreams of playing at United, and they’re in for him, it’s hard to see any other outcome than him ending up at Old Trafford. Of course, this is all speculation at this point.
Moreover, the £70 million price tag is steep for Pulisic. Even in this inflated market, Liverpool would be paying mostly for potential, not immediate contribution.
