It’s not the first team signing fans are going to be hoping for either until it happens or until the transfer window slams shut, but it’s a name to keep in mind for the future as Liverpool have today signed 18-year-old Scotland youth international Tony Gallacher for £200k from Falkirk.

The Liverpool Echo report that the deal was agreed after the young fullback impressed at a week-long trial this month, impressing Liverpool’s youth coaches enough to get the club to move to secure the player immediately and before he had a chance to trial for any other English side.

He was reportedly also going to be looked at by Manchester United and Stoke City, with both sides said to be interested in bringing in the youngster. Liverpool, though, moved quickly to sign a player who has already made 26 senior appearances in the Scottish Championship.

Having trained with the club recently, there’s a chance Gallacher could be involved as soon as this weekend when Liverpool’s U23s take on Derby County in a Premier League 2 tie.
