Many Liverpool supporters will look back at the roll the Spanish publication Don Balon played during the Philippe Coutinho transfer saga with fondness. What, with their relentless, daily dose of bullshit, and all.
Well, that pro-Barcelona publication is back, this time peddling nonsense about Barcelona’s rival, Real Madrid, and their star Gareth Bale. According to Don Balon, the Welsh international and former world record transfer holder will be heading back to England this summer. They go on to state that Real Madrid have grown tired of Bale’s fitness woes, and are looking to offload him after the season.
The beacon of journalistic integrity lists not one, not two, not three, but four England sides which could compete for Bale’s signature. Naturally, Liverpool are among them. Additionally Manchester United, Chelsea, and most humorous of all, Tottenham Hotspur, are linked.
This is not the first time a tenuous link between Liverpool and Bale has popped up, but it remains highly unlikely. Injury record or not, the route from Liverpool to Madrid remains a one way street for now. Also, fucking Don Balon.
