Following the failure to capture Naby Keïta from Energy Drink company advertisement billboard Leipzig, and the injury to midfield dynamo Adam Lallana, there were tentative links to Ajax midfielder Hakim Ziyech coming out of Holland and Morocco. Those links were fleeting. Either that, or they were completely drown out by the unfolding Virgil van Dijk and Philippe Coutinho rumors.
Regardless, Ziyech to Liverpool was sort of a thing, either days or weeks ago. Someone please make the transfer window madness stop. Now, according to the ever unreliable Italian publication Calciomercato, AS Roma are prepared to do battle for the midfielder that Liverpool may or may not actually be interested in.
For some reason Roma are a bit light in the attack, and have been looking into Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez. However, the two sides have thus far been unable to agree on a price for Mahrez. Additionally, the Foxes have set a deadline for the Mahrez sale on August 11th, not wanting to sell after the start of the season.
Roma very well might be looking into Ziyech. Or this could just be a leak to get Leicester to come down on price, lest they lose out on the player sale. Or this could be the lazy rumors of a bored journalist who has nothing else to report.
