Divock Origi’s father has made it clear that his son has to leave Liverpool to get minutes this season, and that there has been no shortage in interested clubs. According to quite a few reporters, however, that interest has narrowed considerably and Origi is likely going to be off to Wolfsburg on a season-long loan.
If this is true (and it’s being confirmed by enough journalists close to Liverpool that it likely is), it works out well for all parties: Liverpool have been angling for a move to a non-English club, Origi will definitely get the minutes he’s been looking for, and Wolfsburg get an excellent striker who is out to make his mark.
There’s possibly a sign in the tea leaves here about what this means for the Reds delegation that may or may not be in Monaco at this moment, but that’s up to the silver Mercedes-chasing squad to interpret.
