Mere hours ago, Chuck wrote, “Expect the likes of James Pearce and Paul Joyce to produce follow-on reports sometime on Tuesday.” He’s really less of a writer, and more of a prophet, because that is exactly what happened.
James Pearce is now confirming that Mohamed Salah will be arriving in London late tonight ahead of the impending expected completion of this transfer saga. Pearce also reports that the two sides are very close to agreeing on a fee and payment structure in the neighborhood of £35 million, although negotiations are still on-going between Liverpool Sporting Director Michael Edwards and Roma’s Monchi.
Obviously no one is going to be happy until there are a series of promotional pictures of Salah in a Liverpool jersey leaning on things, signing a blank piece of paper, and the like. But this is a real sign of progress in the pursuit, one which Liverpool should be able to get over the line.
If the two sides can reach an agreement today, Salah will undergo a medical tomorrow and (assuming the medical goes well) pen a 5-year deal with the Reds. Expect more developments as the day progresses.
