The negotiations to sign AS Roma winger Mohamed Salah continue, as Liverpool look to grab their first big signing of the summer.
Ramy Abbas, Salah’s agent, traveled to England to facilitate a successful transfer with Liverpool. The club’s first bid for the dynamic winger was around £28.5 million, while Roma’s valuation of the player was more in the range of £35-£40 million.
It now appears that Liverpool will submit a renewed bid that is closer to the Italian club’s valuation.
As for Salah, it’s said that he’s eager to make Merseyside his new home and has already agreed to personal terms with the club — for as much good as that’s done us recently.
Though the summer transfer window hasn’t technically opened yet, Liverpool fans are still growing antsy at the lack of activity from the club in the wake of some big ticket purchases by their competitors. If Liverpool can secure the signing of the 25-year-old winger quickly, it would go a long way to soothing some fears.
Salah is coming off of the best season of his professional career. He scored 19 goals in all competitions for Roma, and helped lead Egypt to the African Cup of Nations final in the middle of all that, scoring two goals and setting up another two in the tournament.
Liverpool have been after Salah for several seasons. They lost the hunt for him to Chelsea back in winter 2014. Securing him now would put a happy ending to a three-year pursuit of the player.
