Once a Liverpool Transfer Target, Always a Willian

Liverpool failed to secure Willian’s signature in the summer of 2013. Will this time be different?

In the summer of 2013, Willian Borges Da Silva—or just Willian—eschewed Liverpool’s advances, instead choosing to wear the blue and white of Chelsea. At 28, the Brazilian international and former Shakhtar Donetsk man now appears to be surplus goods for Antonio Conte’s Chelsea, and might be moving on this summer.

Willian has had an up and down career in London, and so far this campaign has been mostly relegated to the bench, starting just 13 league games so far, and an additional 17 appearances off the bench. As an impact sub, Willian has scored 7 goals and added an assist.

Because Willian is a winger who has previously been linked to Liverpool, he is naturally linked to Liverpool once again. Because reasons.

There’s no word as to how much he would cost, but Willian is reportedly on £100,000 per week, and is under contract with the Blues until the summer of 2020. Although he would certainly improve the squad, especially with European football a certainty next campaign, his age should give us pause, especially with the Premier League Experience premium that is sure to be placed on his head.
