Depending on who you ask, Alexandre Lacazette is either perfect for Liverpool or not quite impressive enough to warrant a major outlay of money by the Reds. The Lyon forward has had a fairly spectacular year of goal-scoring in Ligue 1 this season, with thirty-one goals in forty games. That’s up there with his numbers from two seasons ago in the 2014/15 season when he bagged twenty-seven goals for Les Gones.
At 25 years old, it’s probably time for Lacazette to take a step up to a bigger league. As a forward he’ll be entering his peak years and there are likely to be quite a few suitors for his hand this summer. Unfortunately, for those worried about the price tag, Lyon are said to be looking to gain a hefty purse. The asking price being thrown about is £60milllion.
Now, these new, new, new rumours of a Liverpool/Lacazette connection are spewing forth from RMC in France, which as I gather is a radio station. So, glean from that what you will.
The other clubs said to be in the running for the French international are Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid. And that’s tough competition if true. Also, those certainly won’t be the only clubs in Europe giving Lyon and Lacazette the dreamy eyes over the next few months.
And as far as Liverpool are concerned, a spot in the top four will be crucial for negotiating with any tip top players in the transfer window. That goes for Virgil van Dijk and Julian Brandt and all the other flashy, splashy names. So, don’t get too attached to the idea of these players suited up in red. Enjoy the tingling sensation of the possibility, sure. We all need the tingle. But, you know, keep it together, is all I’m saying. Life.
