Rumour Mongering: Reds Want Real Madrid Right Back

According to reports, Madrid defender Danilo is on Jürgen Klopp’s shopping list.

Before he moved to Real Madrid, Danilo Luiz da Silva was a young Brazilian making a name for himself in Portugal with Porto. He was a rising star, capable of playing fullback, winger, or in midfield. He was also linked with Liverpool on more than one occasion.

Then, he moved to Madrid. Liverpool, in the meantime, had solved their right back issues bringing in Nathaniel Clyne. Now, though, with Danilo stuck on Madrid’s bench and watching his career stall, he finds himself being linked to Liverpool once again.

This time, Liverpool are being cast as competition for Danilo’s signature with Juventus, at least according to Calcio Mercato, who claim that Jürgen Klopp is a fan of his and will rival the Italian giants for his signature now that Madrid have signalled he’s available.

The rumour has since been picked up by the likes of the Metro and Express in England, though of course for English audiences the tone has been tweaked and it’s Juventus rivalling Liverpool. Such is the life of a transfer rumour.

It rather seems a stretch, though, given Danilo would reportedly cost upwards of £20M and Liverpool and Klopp seem quite content with their current right back options and certainly aren’t looking to replace Nathaniel Clyne any time soon.

If Danilo was a left back, then perhaps it would be easier to think their was something to this Italian rumour that has since been picked up by the English tabloids. As it stands, though, Danilo to Liverpool isn’t a rumour taking seriously.
