Two weeks ago, we reported that the rumor mill was spinning strongly with a fresh stream of (expletive deleted) coming from RB Leipzig, linking us to approximately half the squad. Now, the fresh run off is coming from another Bundesliga club, Schalke.
Apparently Liverpool are eyeing a move for Max Meyer, and if not him, his teammate Leon Goretzka. Or possbily even Sead Kolasinac. Who knows? The possibilities are endless!
Meyer is probably the most exciting possibility of the bunch. The 21-year-old already has over 100 appearances for Schalke, and has been capped by the German national team. The midfielder’s contract is winding down, with only 1 year remaining after this season. Last summer Schalke were apparently holding out for £45 million, but now it seems as if he could be had for as little as £17 million.
Liverpool are also apparently keeping an eye on Goretzka. Like Meyer, his contract is winding down, and will only have a year left this summer. And, because we need something for the #buyafullback crowd, there’s Bosnian leftback Kolasinac, who will be set to leave on a free this summer. If that one works out as well as the last defender to come from Schalke on a free, it will be a good bit of business.
