Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho was in Croatia last night for the World Cup qualifier against Ukraine, allegedly to scout 28-year-old Inter Milan attacking midfielder Ivan Perisic. Admittedly, this rumor would make a great deal more sense if Perisic actually featured in the match. (However, Liverpool transfer rumor old boys Yevhen Konoplyanka and Andriy Yarmolenko both did).
Regardless of what Mourinho was really doing there (my money’s on stalking and sucking the souls out of little children), Dejan Lovren would like to let his fellow Croatian Perisic that Liverpool is like, totes better than Manchester United.
“A player like Perisic moving to Liverpool would be great. He is a top quality player,” Liverpool’s defender told newspaper Jutarnji List. “At Liverpool, all the players would welcome him with open arms.
“Obviously I do not know if it is true [the rumours]. What I can say is that he has exceptional football skills, knowledge and a higher than average quality.”
Perisic, who mostly features on the left wing for Inter, has 9 goals and 3 assists in 27 Serie A appearances so far this season. However, a move for him would not come cheap; Inter are reportedly asking €40 million for the player.
