According to nebulous “sources out of Spain” (feel free to skip straight to the comments section below), Liverpool are now back in for Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez. Rumors have it that the improbable winners of last year’s Premier League are willing to part ways with Mahrez for a reduced fee of around £30 million.
Although the 2015/16 PFA Player of the Year (an award which, in retrospect, probably should have gone to former teammate N'Golo Kanté) has had a dip in form from last year’s blistering heights, he still has produced 9 goals and 4 assists in 35 appearances for the Foxes this campaign.
However, it is also reported that Barcelona are in for the Algerian international, and hey, if it keeps them away from Philippe Coutinho that’s fine by me.
Clearly this rumor is a bit of a stretch (oh, hey there international break), but if Mahrez could be had, especially at a bargain rate compared to last summer, he might be worth looking into as Liverpool will certainly be looking to bolster their attacking options this summer.
