It’s almost summertime, and the rumours are a-flying. This one is a particularly juicy one: Liverpool are reportedly still very interested in signing Fulham wonderkid, Ryan Sessegnon.
Sessegnon, who was born in this millennium (this millennium!), has had an incredible season at Fulham so far, with six goals and three assists. Two of those six goals came last Saturday against Rafa Benitez’ Newcastle.
Liverpool will be up against teams like Arsenal, Tottenham, and Chelsea to sign Sessegnon, if this rumour is true.
Sessegnon, while an excellent choice of left-back to grow at Anfield, isn’t going to be the end of Liverpool’s defensive woes. Moreno, who has had two Premier League starts all season, is likely to leave the club. If (fingers crossed) Liverpool qualifies for the Champions’ League next season, it’ll take more than James Milner and Sessegnon in the left-back position to keep the season from completely unravelling.
Fulham, of course, is less than pleased about the idea of Sessegnon leaving.
“I can only tell [Ryan] that he will improve if he works and stays with us,” Fulham boss, Slavisa Jokanovic, said. “This is how I will try to convince him to stay with the club.
"I am enjoying the opportunity to work with and use him in my squad. I hope for a long time but in this business you never know what is going to happen."
It’s still a while before transfer rumours start getting serious, but hopefully this is one that will pan out.
