According to reports in Turkey, Liverpool are primed to revive last summer’s rumoured interest in 23-year-old Anderson Talisca, though rumours also have league leaders Chelsea and Serie A side Lazio looking hard at the Brazilian who has scored seven goals in 14 Süper Lig appearances so far this season.
Liverpool were meant to be interested in Talisca last summer only for work permit issues to derail a potential deal. As a result, Benfica instead agreed a two-year paid loan, sending the flexible attacker who can fill in as an attacking midfielder or striker to Besiktas along with a €25M option to buy.
Where he ends up next is anyone’s guess, but Turkish Football think it’s almost certain he won’t end up back with Benfica after another season on loan, claiming Liverpool have regularly had scouts in attendance watching Talisca this season, including recently for their Europa league match against Olympiakos.
They also claim Besiktas would like to trigger his purchase option but that the fee could prove too steep. Elsewhere, rumour mongers have linked Talisca to Chelsea and Lazio, with Chelsea meant to see him as an alternative to Lazio’s Keita Blade and Lazio seeing him as a replacement should Blade move to Chelsea.
However, it’s worth noting that Talisca has yet to make a senior appearance for Brazil, and nothing he has done this season at Besiktas would likely change his ability to get an English work permit. If that is what stopped Liverpool doing a deal last summer, it’s unlikely they would do one now.
