Pearce: All’s Quiet on the Dahoud Front

The Echo’s main man says there’s nothing new to report on last summer’s failed transfer target.

Once a Liverpool transfer target, always a Liverpool transfer target. Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Mahmoud Dahoud was a rumored target for Liverpool all through the summer, but the then 20-year-old midfielder never budged from his safe Bundesliga home. Then in November there was a second round of speculation that Liverpool and Dortmund could be competing in the winter window for the midfielder’s signature. Those rumors, too, faded, as did the following ones about his potential move to Barcelona.

If Jürgen Klopp & Co. are planning to splash the cash for the exciting, young Syrian midfielder, The Echo’s James Pearce has not heard as much from his sources in the club.

"All gone very quiet on Dahoud,” Pearce said in an interview. "Liverpool were very keen last summer but Mönchengladbach didn’t want to sell. Since then I’ve not heard Dahoud mentioned."

Dohoud was one of the potential transfers that had Liverpool fans most excited last summer, so it will be interesting to see if the Reds take another crack at him in the upcoming months. But it seems that for now there’s not much brewing in that department. Stay tuned.
